Here is a short list of the different file types we might ask you for.  You may not think about this too often so I made you a cheat sheet.

PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a lossless image format that supports transparent backgrounds. It is a good choice for storing images with flat colors and crisp detail, such as logos or icons.

JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) is a lossy image format that is commonly used for storing photographs. It uses compression to reduce the file size of the image, which can make it a good choice for storing large images or for use on the web. However, this compression can also cause some loss of detail in the image.

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is a vector image format that is used to display graphics on the web. Unlike raster image formats (like PNG and JPG), which are made up of pixels, SVG graphics are made up of shapes and can be scaled to any size without losing quality.

PDF (Portable Document Format) is a file format that is used to display documents in a consistent manner across multiple devices. PDFs can include text, images, and other types of content, and they can be created from a variety of applications, including word processors, spreadsheet programs, and more.

EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) is a vector image format that is commonly used for storing graphics and drawings. It is often used for printing and can be imported into other applications, such as word processors and graphic design programs.

For DTG (direct-to-garment) printing, the best file format is typically a high-resolution PNG or JPG file. DTG printing involves printing an image directly onto a garment using inkjet technology, so the image should be in a format that is suitable for printing with ink.

PNG and JPG are both common image formats that are widely supported and are suitable for printing. PNG is a lossless image format that supports transparent backgrounds and is a good choice for storing images with flat colors and crisp detail. JPG is a lossy image format that is commonly used for storing photographs and is a good choice for printing images with more complex colors and gradients.

SVG is a vector image format that is designed for use on the web and is not generally suitable for printing. PDF and EPS are both vector image formats that are commonly used for printing, but they may not be the best choice for DTG printing due to the specific requirements of the printing process.

In general, it is best to use a high-resolution image (at least 300 dpi) and to ensure that the colors are correctly calibrated for the printing process.

(For embroidery we life vector images the best!!)
